Stable Hall

Designed by San Antonio architect Otto Kramer and built in 1894, the Pearl Stable housed roughly seventy horses that pulled the brewery's beer wagons. The automobile made it a storeroom; the 1950s made it the Pearl Corral, complete with a 290-foot Buck Winn mural of the Old West; the 1970s made it the Jersey Lilly.

Today the 128-year-old structure opens as Stable Hall. Hammered limestone, plaster and original brick carry patrons into the lobby, where columns and chandeliers from an earlier renovation are left in place as part of the building's cumulative history.

In the performance room, forest-green walls, velvet curtains, hand-painted landscape murals and brass accents make an intimate, soulful space. The radially laid original wood ceiling stands as a testament to the carpenters of the 1890s, while custom balcony seating in the eastern and western hay lofts looks down on a floor that works for standing-room shows and seated evenings alike.
