A boutique hotel woven through four historic Fredericksburg buildings at the centre of the town's Golden Blocks.
About this project
The Albert celebrates Albert Keidel — Fredericksburg architect, preservationist and man-about-town — by turning his family's homestead into a hotel and gathering place in the heart of the town's historic shopping district.
The project restores the 1860 Keidel family home, the 1870 Brockmann-Kiehne House, the 1906 Keidel Pharmacy and the 1888 White Elephant Saloon, and threads new construction between them: retail, four food and beverage concepts, a spa, shaded lawns and a sunken limestone pool.
New buildings borrow from the Hill Country around them — traditional wood siding beside a custom raked stucco that catches the changing light, with undulating façades and deep overhangs to hold off the summer sun. Interiors are material-driven, layered and warm without ever being fussy.
